Courses

The school offers courses for international students who are interested in studying the Portuguese Language.
Our courses are flexible, you can control the intensity of your courses and organize your schedule according to your goals and availability. We don’t have fixed dates to start our general courses, so you can decide when to start. You can begin by taking a general Portuguese course, and then progress to our Special courses.

We offer tutoring at the school, in your company or at home.

Courses Types

  • Traditional: a course delivered over this modality is designed according to the student availability and goals. It has flexible duration and course load. Without student engagement, inside and outside the classroom, the achieved results will not be satisfactory.
  • Intensive: a course delivered over this modality covers a huge number of classes and contents in a reduced time. It is only recommended for students who intend to stay in Porto Alegre for a short time and can commit themselves to intense study of the Portuguese, inside and outside the classroom. Without student engagement the achieved results will not be satisfactory.
  • Immersion: a course over this modality has extended duration, in order to provide students with the highest possible contact with Portuguese, preparing them to interact and express themselves satisfactorily in Portuguese. Classes are from 6am daily, 5 days per week. It is recommended for students who intend to stay in Porto Alegre for at least three months and can focus on studying also at home. Without student engagement the achieved results will not be satisfactory.

Basic, Pre-Intermediate and Intermediate

Our general courses are designed for students who need to study and practice the four language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing in Portuguese. Our general courses use a combination of grammar content with essential vocabulary in order to enable students to start communicating in basic, pre-intermediate and intermediate levels of Portuguese.

Advanced

This course is designed to build on students’ prior knowledge, as well as to maximize grammar contents enriching and enhancing the performance of advanced level students.

Portuguese for Executives

Portuguese for Executives is a course designed for business professionals who are interested in the market and need to learn this specific field vocabulary. The course follows current themes of Brazil, particularly the way Brazilian executives deal with business. We provide the necessary language tools to help executive students in diverse business situations.

Please note that students must be at least at the intermediate level to register for this course. If you are not at the intermediate or advanced Portuguese level, check our General Portuguese courses.

Portuguese for Spanish Speakers

This course is designed for students who are fluent in Spanish and want to improve their performance in Portuguese by practicing the four language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. It also concerns students’ communicative competence acquisition in every level.

Portuguese for Kids and Portuguese for Teenagers

This course is designed for students who want to enjoy lessons while learning. Our classes are interactive, educational, and fun with materials that are suitable to the student age and encourage the practice of the four language skills in Portuguese. We also offer regular school homework assistance.

Celpe-Bras Preparation Course

This course is designed for students who need to take the Celpe-Bras exam. The course covers the four language skills assessed in the exam (listening and reading comprehension, writing and speaking performance). It also regards the examination of techniques and academic language details through the use of past examination papers.

Please note that Celpe-Bras Preparation Course requires a minimum level of Intermediate. If you are not at the intermediate or advanced levels, check our General Portuguese courses.

  • Our Workshops are interactive and dynamic, but are also challenging. Specially designed for students whose objective is to increase Portuguese knowledge studying its linguistic and cultural aspects. Workshop lessons last 2 hours, have flexible schedule and are weekly offered, addressing specific contents.
  • The school offers workshops for students with different proficiency levels.
  • The workshops are designed for groups of at least two students.

Brazilian Music Workshop

This workshop is designed for students who want to study grammar content through national song lyrics. Different Brazilian rhythms will be the starting point to the analysis and discussion of the socio-historical contexts portrayed in the songs.

Brazilian Culture Workshop

The goal of this workshop is to study the characteristics of the Brazilian regions, exploring the cultural, touristic and historical aspects of Brazilian main cities, through the comprehension and analysis of local texts and videos.

Grammar Workshop

The goal of this workshop is to review and improve contents of Portuguese grammar through diverse activities.

Writing Workshop

This workshop is designed for students who need to boost their writing skills and receive composition support.

Conversation Workshop

This workshop aims to contribute and develop fluency in students’ speaking skills through interactive activities relating to group discussion.

Celpe-Bras Exam Structure

This exam assesses listening and reading comprehension, writing and speaking performance in Portuguese Language in a combined method and consists of two parts:

  • WRITTEN (lasting 3 hours) – settle in two tasks combining oral comprehension and writing and two others linking reading and writing skills;
  • ORAL (lasting 20 minutes) – combining interaction through students general interests and activities, mentioned at their application form, with daily topics conversations, based on polemic subjects.

 

To obtain the certificate, the student has to reach the minimum expected performance on both parts of the Celp-Bras Exam.
